Weekly Best Catch Rules

Last updated: 21 September 2026

Please read these rules carefully before entering the Weekly Best Catch competition.

These Weekly Best Catch Rules form part of the Strike & Scale legal framework and should be read together with the Membership Terms & Conditions, the Competition Rules, the Photo & Catch Submission Rules, the Monthly Species Challenge Rules, the Mystery Length Rules, and the Privacy Policy.

Where these Rules conflict with the Membership Terms & Conditions, the Membership Terms & Conditions prevail.

1. Format

1.1. Weekly Best Catch is a member-voted skill competition.

1.2. The provisional winner is the eligible entry receiving the highest number of valid on-platform Likes/Votes during the official voting window, after eligibility and anti-abuse checks.

2. Entry and Voting Cycle

2.1. Unless different dates are expressly published for a special competition period:

  • a) Weekly entries close Sunday at 11:59 pm local competition time;
  • b) approved entries are placed into Approved / Queued for Voting status;
  • c) approval does NOT make the entry immediately voteable in Weekly Best Catch;
  • d) the official voting batch opens at 12:00 pm Monday after the entry period;
  • e) while the current Weekly competition is Voting Open, catches may already be submitted and approved for the next Weekly competition;
  • f) Likes/engagement received before the official Weekly voting window do NOT count as Weekly Best Catch votes;
  • g) once the voting period closes, eligible votes are locked for result calculation; and
  • h) completed/historical entries may remain visible but are no longer voteable for that completed Competition.

2.2. The current longer inaugural competition period may use different published dates. Those published inaugural dates override the normal Weekly timing for that inaugural period only.

3. Weekly Entry Allowances

3.1. The current standard Weekly entry allowances are:

  • Free Fry: 1 standard Weekly entry per Weekly entry period.
  • Fingerling: Up to 3 standard Weekly entries per Weekly entry period.
  • Schoolie: Up to 3 standard Weekly entries per Weekly entry period.
  • Monthly Unlock: Up to 3 standard Weekly entries per Weekly entry period while the Unlock is active (the Schoolie allowance).

3.2. While a Monthly Unlock is active, the Member receives the Schoolie standard Weekly allowance. However, an eligible Monthly Species Challenge entry may also be entered into the applicable Weekly Best Catch as a Monthly-to-Weekly crossover entry, subject to a maximum of one (1) crossover entry per Member per Weekly competition period. A Monthly-to-Weekly crossover entry does not use one of the Member’s standard Weekly Best Catch entries. This crossover principle applies regardless of whether Monthly Species Challenge access comes from an active Schoolie Membership or a valid Monthly Unlock. A Monthly Unlock does not give a Member five (5) additional Weekly Best Catch entries.

3.3. A special Competition may publish a different allowance before entries open.

4. Voting Eligibility

  • a) a Member cannot Like/Vote on their own Catch;
  • b) a Member can Like/Vote on the same Weekly entry only once;
  • c) Free Fry currently receives 1 qualifying Weekly Best Catch Like/Vote per week;
  • d) paid-tier voting allowances, if different, are displayed by the Platform;
  • e) production voting rules require the voting Account to be at least 7 days old before a Weekly Like/Vote qualifies, unless Strike & Scale temporarily suspends that control for testing or another published reason; and
  • f) if a Member removes a qualifying Like/Vote during the applicable Weekly voting period, that voting allowance is restored and may be used on another eligible Catch before voting closes. A Member may not remove or change a Competition Like/Vote for Competition purposes after the applicable voting period has closed. For Members with multiple voting allowances, removing one qualifying vote restores only that corresponding allowance. Removing a vote does not increase the Member’s maximum voting allowance.

5. Activity Points for Voting

5.1. A qualifying Like/Vote GIVEN by a Member currently awards +2 Activity Points under the Activity Points schedule. Activity Points are awarded only on the first use of each available qualifying voting allowance during the applicable Weekly voting period. If a Member removes a Like/Vote and uses the restored voting allowance on another eligible Catch, no additional Activity Points are awarded for reusing that same voting allowance. For a Member with multiple qualifying voting allowances, each available allowance may earn the +2 Activity Points only once during that Weekly voting period. For example, a Member with three (3) qualifying voting allowances may earn a maximum of six (6) Activity Points attributable to those voting allowances for that Weekly period, regardless of how many times the Member changes their selections. Strike & Scale may reverse or void Activity Points associated with a Like/Vote that is subsequently determined to be invalid, fraudulent or part of voting manipulation.

5.2. Receiving a Like/Vote does NOT award +2 Activity Points to the Catch owner.

6. Anti-Manipulation

6.1. Strike & Scale prohibits and may take action against:

  • a) bots;
  • b) scripts;
  • c) purchased votes;
  • d) vote-swapping rings;
  • e) coordinated manipulation;
  • f) fake Accounts;
  • g) duplicate Accounts;
  • h) Account sharing; and
  • i) other attempts to distort results.

6.2. Strike & Scale may void or disregard invalid or manipulated votes.

7. Ties

7.1. Where two or more otherwise eligible entries remain tied for a prize position, a 3-person Strike & Scale review panel will assess the tied entries.

7.2. The panel may consider:

  • a) rule compliance;
  • b) Catch presentation;
  • c) photo quality;
  • d) authenticity;
  • e) submitted verification evidence;
  • f) uniqueness; and
  • g) overall Competition suitability.

7.3. The panel decision is final subject to rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Weekly Prize

8.1. The Weekly Best Catch uses a seeded cash prize pool.

8.2. Each Weekly Best Catch period starts with a seeded base amount shown on the competition page for that period.

8.3. The live prize value will be displayed on the Platform and may increase above the seed amount where Strike & Scale adds further funding or a supplementary sponsor-supplied prize.

8.4. Any replacement or supplementary prize will be displayed for the relevant period.

8.5. Payment of Membership fees does not give a Member ownership interest in the prize pool. Prize entitlement arises only after a winner is validly determined and confirmed.

9. Winner Stand-Down

9.1. A Member who is confirmed as the winner of a Weekly Best Catch competition may not enter the Weekly Best Catch for 12 Weekly competition periods, starting with the first period that opens after voting closes in the competition they won. Entries made before the hold began are not affected.

9.2. From the moment voting closes until the result is confirmed, the Member in first place, or every Member tied for first place, is held back from entering the Weekly Best Catch. If another Member is confirmed as the winner, no winner is declared, or the result is revoked, the hold on that Member is lifted.

9.3. The stand-down applies to the Member and to any other Account that Strike & Scale reasonably believes is operated by, or on behalf of, the same person. It applies to the Weekly Best Catch only. It does not affect the Member’s ability to vote, to earn Activity Points, or to enter the Monthly Species Challenge, Mystery Length or Most Active Member.

10. Age / Prize Claim

  • a) Members aged 16 or 17 may participate only through an eligible Free Fry Account with parent/legal guardian consent as required;
  • b) paid memberships and Monthly Unlock remain 18+; and
  • c) if a 16 or 17 year old validly wins an eligible Free Fry competition, the cash prize must be claimed on the winner’s behalf by a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or older.

11. Verification

11.1. Weekly Catch evidence must comply with the current Photo & Catch Submission Rules.

11.2. Where an Upload Verification Code is required:

  • a) the correct current code must be physically visible in the required evidence; and
  • b) typing or selecting the code in the app alone is insufficient.

11.3. Strike & Scale does NOT request replacement Catch evidence after submission.

11.4. Clean entries may be automatically approved.

11.5. Flagged/low-confidence entries may be manually reviewed using the original submission and existing Platform records.

11.6. If the evidence remains insufficient, the entry is rejected or marked ineligible.

11.7. Potential winners must undergo human verification before prize finalisation.

12. Prize Claims / Unclaimed Prizes

12.1. A winner must claim a prize within the period stated in the winner notification or Competition page. If no fixed period is stated, the winner must respond within a reasonable period requested by Strike & Scale.

12.2. Unclaimed prizes will be dealt with in accordance with applicable law and any specific Competition notice.

13. Rule Changes

13.1. Strike & Scale may amend, suspend or cancel Weekly Best Catch competitions where reasonably necessary for legal, operational, security or technical reasons.
